Orlando Pirates assistant coach Ncikazi puts ‘head on the block’ for Hlatshwayo

The Buccaneers tactician talks about the first player he spoke to when he arrived at the club and gives his impression on the defender

Orlando Pirates assistant coach Mandla Ncikazi has given guarantees that another Thulani Hlatshwayo will testify in the upcoming 2021/22 season.

Defender Hlatshwayo arrived at Pirates last season with a big profile to be Bafana Bafana’s captain, but struggled to live up to expectations.

But Ncikazi believes the defender will rise again and return to his best.

‘The first conversation I had with any player at the club was with Tyson [Hlatshwayo]”The woman said Metro FM as per iDiski Times.

‘A great man, very intelligent. He is by accident not a captain. History, how he grew up at Ajax … But I can guarantee you one thing, you’ll see another Tyson, I can put my head on the block.

‘Wait, if we do not play ten games without a modified Tyson, call me and I owe you something. But I can guarantee you, we’ll see another Tyson. ”

Hlatshwayo pushed to the bench at some point last season, with Innocent Maela switching from left-back to mid-back.

With a new central defense supplement in Kwanda Mngonyama, we need to see if Hlatshwayo will enjoy regular football in the coming season.

He has already competed for the playing opportunities of captain Happy Jele, Ntsikelelo Nyauza and Maela.

Ncikazi says they were given time to discuss the performance of Hlatshwayo with the player himself.

“We talked. “We talked about a lot of things, about the team, his individual performances, where he wants to get this season, what he wants to achieve,” said Ncikazi.

It remains to be seen if Hlatshwayo can get back in top form and get his Bafana Bafana jersey as well as the bracelet back.

He will start the bid by helping Pirates get past Swallows FC in next Saturday’s MTN8 quarterfinals.

After that, the Pirates begin their search for a first Premier Soccer League title in a decade, when they host Stellenbosch on 21 August.
