The Nigerian striker sent a strong message to coach Luciano Spalletti with his efforts in the Parthenopeans’ first friendly match in Dimaro Folgarida.
Victor Osimhen scored four goals when Napoli beat Anaunia 12-0 on Sunday.
The Super Eagles forward scored all of his goals in the first half as the Parthenopean took a 7-0 lead before the break.
After Eljif Elmas broke the deadlock in the fourth minute, Osimhen doubled Napoli’s lead four minutes later.
Konstantinos Manolas made it 3-0 before the former Lille star found the back of the net in the 20th, 35th and 37th minutes to lead his team 6-0.
Just at halftime, Stanislav Lobotka added the seventh goal for Luciano Spalletti’s team.
At half-time, the new coach, Spalletti, decided to change his entire team, while Andrea Petagna replaces Osimhen, while Amir Rrahmani comes off for Kalidou Koulibaly from Senegal and Adam Ounas from Algeria for Gennaro Tutino.
The party continued into the second half as goals from Gennaro Tutino, Luca Palmiero, Amato Ciciretti, Zinedine Machach and Andrea Petagna later claimed the Italian manager’s first victory since replacing Gennaro Gattuso in May.
Prior to Sunday’s clash, Spalletti praised Osimhen, who scored 10 goals in 24 Serie A games last season, describing him as a complete striker.
“He will definitely be a foothold for us and a force of this team,” Spalletti said. ‘He’s a complete striker, he knows how to score and he knows how to fight for his teammates.
“Obviously he also has aspects to improve on, and that’s where we need to work, but it’s already given great availability.”
The next time for Napoli is another friendly meeting with Pro Vercelli, the Serie C club, on July 24 before traveling to Germany to tackle Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich on July 31 for a warm-up program.
Spalletti’s men begin their league campaign in August 2121-22 against Venezia.
