India from outside spinner Ravichandran Ashwin went to Twitter and posted a video saying it was his absolute privilege to play for the Surrey team ahead of the English County Championship match against Somerset starting at the Oval on Sunday.
Ashwin is part of the Indian squad currently in the UK and cut short his leisure break after playing in the WTC final in New Zealand to master a practice match. for Surrey in their group 2 match of the ongoing county championship.

Surrey has confirmed that Ravichandran Ashwin will play for Somerset for the country on the official website after nominating him in the squad for the important match. The match will give Ashwin valuable match practice ahead of the five-Test series against India starting on 4 August. The Oval hosts the fourth match of the India-England series.
‘The Indian versatile Ravi Ashwin will only join the group for this match. Sean Abbott was originally expected to be with Hashim Amla the second overseas player from Surrey, but suffered a thigh muscle injury during the LV = County Championship meeting with Gloucestershire, ending his time at The Kia Oval early. Surrey posted on their website.
‘Ashwin stayed in the country after India’s World Cup final last month. He will meet with India’s Test squad after the match before their Test series with England, which will only start on August 4. The fourth game of the series will be played between 2 and 6 September in The Kia Oval, more than seven weeks away, ” read the statement.
Meanwhile, Ravichandran Ashwin said in a video on the Surrey Cricket Twitter account, ”I am so privileged to wear the badge. I heard and wondered what the provinces of London were all about. Even if it’s just for a game, I’m delighted to share this dressing room. ”
