Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) signed English pacemaker George Garton for the UAE leg of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 on Wednesday. Garton was included by RCB for the 14th edition of the IPL postponed earlier after several cases of COVID-19 were reported in the biobubble.
The left-arm player now completes RCB’s quota of eight overseas players with the franchise signing of Sri Lankan versatile player Wanindu Hasaranga, fast bowler Dushmantha Chameera and Singapore batsman Span David also.
Garton talks about RCB’s latest signing for the biggest T20 extravaganza, and is a cricketer in England who recently did his job for Southern Brave in The Hundred. He played nine games in the 100-ball competition and scored ten wickets on an average of 23.
In the T20 blast, Garton took nine wickets in six games this year at an average of 16.66 and an economy of 7.50. Overall, the 24-year-old has played in 38 T20 matches and bagged 44 wickets.
The rest of the IPL 2021 starts from 19 September.
RCB is currently in third place in the standings with five wins in seven games. Delhi Capitals are top with six wins in eight games.
