Reported Kaizer Chiefs target Zungu part of Amiens workforce – Vice President Mulazzi

The talented midfield maestro has been ordered to return to the French squad after a game with Rangers

Luiens Mulazzi, vice-president of Amiens SC, has issued a warning to Bafana Bafana international Bongani Zungu, who is linked with Kaizer Chiefs.

The 28-year-old central midfielder has yet to sign up for pre-season training with the French Ligue 2 team, following a loan spell at the Scottish giants Rangers.

Zungu spent the 2020/21 campaign with Rangers, where they won their first Scottish Premier League title since 2011.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns player is currently back home in South Africa, and he is reportedly close to Chiefs at the Soweto giants to sign new players after the club’s Fifa transfer ban ended on 1 July.

However, Mulazzi made it clear that Zungu remain their player and he instructed the Duduza-born player to return to the club.

“He’s part of the workforce, he’s an Amiens SC employee. He needs to be at his workplace,” Mulazzi said. Picard Courier.

Zungu has one more year left on his contract with Amiens with the club nicknamed the Slayers who are expected to fight for the promotion to Ligue 1 during the upcoming 2021/22 campaign.

Recent rumors have it that Chiefs are looking for Zungu, who has thrived under Amakhosi’s new head coach Stuart Baxter for Bafana.

Zungu was arguably South Africa’s best player during the Africa Cup of Nations final in Egypt in 2019, when Baxter led Bafana to the quarter-finals.

It has been said that the British tactician would like to work with Zungu at the Naturena giants, which is why the club is interested in the former player from the University of Pretoria.

It is understood that Amiens has placed a huge prize of £ 2.7 million (R54 million) on Zungu, which could be an obstacle for Chiefs if they decide to pursue the talented player.

The Slayers will start the Ligue 2 term 2021/22 with a match against AJ Auxerre on 24 July.
