Saba Karim, former Indian wicketkeeper, said it Rishabh pants enjoys his captaincy for the IPL team Delhi Capitals.
After Shreyas Iyer injured his shoulder before IPL 2021 in April, the team management of Delhi Capitals Pant has been named as their captain for this season.
National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru has allowed Iyer to play in the second phase of IPL 2021 in the UAE. Iyer’s return questions whether Pant will continue as captain of Capitals or not.
Rishabh Pant is such a player and is so talented that he can complete matches: Saba Karim
However, the team management cleared the line by giving Pant the captaincy for the rest of the season, with Iyer focusing on his batting.
Under Pant’s captaincy, Delhi Capitals have so far won six out of eight matches and are currently at the top of the points table.
Karim feels that Pant is a very talented batsman who can complete matches and get the best out of his leadership role.
“He’s still young. I feel he enjoys the extra responsibility of captaincy. He will also reap the rewards in the future with his batting. “Rishabh Pant is such a player and is so talented that he can complete matches,” Karim said on Khelneeti’s YouTube channel.
‘And that’s the role Delhi Capitals has entrusted to him. It is expected that he will not only complete matches, but also play an important role while setting the goal while batting first, ‘he added.
Rishabh Pant is still an unfinished product in the T20s: Saba Karim
Pant scored 213 runs at a strike rate of 131.48 from eight matches and scored some fifty for Delhi Capitals in the first half of IPl 2021.
Karim believes the wicketkeeper-batsman is an unfinished product in T20 cricket, and he should be careful in his shots.
‘This should not happen (or its strike rate in the UAE will be low). “I am not part of the coaching team, so I expect Rishabh Pant to not only perform well as a wicketkeeper, but also as a batsman,” said Karim.
‘From what I saw in the first half, I liked his attitude a lot. He enjoys the game, whether batting or holding on. When we spoke, I told him: ‘How you play with India and enjoy the game, you have to do the same in the IPL.
‘I feel Rishabh Pant is still an unfinished product in the T20s. He will have to work harder on his shot selection and play according to the situation, but then he will be a complete player, ‘he added.
Delhi Capitals resume their campaign against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the second leg of IPl 2021 on 22 September.
