Indian captain Virat Kohli and his deputy Ajinkya Rahane does not participate in the three-day continuous practice match between Indians and County Kies XI at Riverside Ground in Chester-le-Street, Durham.
Rohit Sharma leads the Indian team in Kohli and Rahane’s absence, and so on Hanuma Vihari and KL Rahul would bat in the middle order.
Fast bowler Mohammed Shami also rested from the warm-up game. It is understood that Kohli, Rahane, Shami and Ravindra Jadeja will hit the nets next door Ravichandran Ashwin, who recently bowled more than 50 overs and took seven wickets during a County Championship game last week against Somerset.
Meanwhile, it Avesh Khan – who traveled to England with the Indian group as a net bowler – and versatile Washington Sundar play for County Select XI.
