The Nigerian forward builds his goal form ahead of the opening of the Rojiblancos League on 16 August
Umar Sadiq scored a prop when Almeria defeated La Liga club Real Betis 2-1 on Wednesday in a friendly before the season.
The meeting took place at the Nuevo Mirador Stadium, and it was the sixth pre-season of Almeria when they were ready to start the new Segunda division.
Sadiq put the Rojiblancos ahead in the 10th minute, but the lead was short-lived when Robert Gonzalez’s equalizer from Real Betis grabbed, seven minutes later.
At half-time, the former Rangers and Roma striker restored Almeria’s lead with his second goal of the evening.
The efforts in the first half separated both teams as Rubi’s men secured their fourth victory in their sixth outing before the season.
The Nigerian striker was replaced later in the second half and he received a standing ovation as he stepped off the field.
Following their impressive results, Almeria will now focus on their opening match in the Segunda Division for the 2021-22 season, with a trip to FC Cartagena scheduled for 16 August.
Before traveling to Cartagena, they will try to keep the Nigerian striker, who has four years left,’s contract at the club.
Sadiq moved to Estadio de los Juegos Mediterraneos last October, but is said to be attracting interest from several European clubs following his striking record in his debut season.
The 24-year-old scored a total of 20 goals in 40 league games — his best score in a league season — while the Rojiblancos barely missed the promotion to La Liga.
They lost to Girona in the semi-finals of the play-offs, but Rayo Vallecano picked up the only promotion ticket after defeating Girona 3-2 in the final.
