Sasman: The defender of the former Kaizer Chiefs reappears at Swallows FC, Thibedi returns at the Birds

The Soweto outfit strengthens their squad ahead of the 2021/22 season, with four new notes

Swallows FC have announced former Kaizer Chiefs full-back Yagan Sasman as their new player.

The Dube Birds have also confirmed the return of midfielder Given Thibedi, also from Kaizer Chiefs.

Thibedi has been on loan at Swallows for the past two seasons, but this time it is not clear whether he has been loaned out again or signed permanently.

He will wear the same shirt number 14 as he has worn at the club for the past two terms.

But Sasman signed a one-year deal and joins the Soweto squad two weeks after being released by Amakhosi.

He joins his new club to find veteran left-back Tebogo Langerman there, after also being signed by Swallows of Mamelodi Sundowns this week.

In addition, Swallows coach Brandon Truter has acquired the services of another Sundowns player, Jody February, who is strengthening their goal division.

February will fight for a starting spot against Virgil Vries, Thela Ngobeni and Sanele Tshabalala.

Midfielder Keletso Makgalwa, who received jersey number 35, also joined the Birds from Sundowns.

Meanwhile, Truter found a replacement for center-back Njabulo Ngcobo by defeating Sundowns with the signature of Katlego Mohamme of the University of Pretoria.

South African national U23 player Mohamme can also play as a left-back, but is more comfortable in the heart of the defense.

There was a gap in Swallows’ central defense after the departure of Ngcobo to Kaizer Chiefs.

Midfielder Dillon Solomons has also been added to the Swallows squad of the National First Division team, Cape Town All Stars.

He comes with only three PSL matches for Stellenbosch during the 2019/20 seasons as his only experience in the top league.

Some of the new notes could play out when Swallows Soweto opponents visit Orlando Pirates for Saturday’s MTN8 quarterfinal.
