Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) announced a group of 24 members on Friday for the upcoming ODI and T20I series against India.
Paaltjiewagter-batsman Kusal Perera, who was excluded from the white ball series due to the shoulder injury, will be replaced by versatile players Dasun Shanaka. Meanwhile fast bowler Binura Fernando will miss the ODI series against India after suffering an ankle injury during Thursday’s training session.
“Kusal Janith Perera is unable to participate in the ODI and T20I series against India due to injury. The wicketkeeper-batsman sprained a right shoulder during training, “ SLC said in a statement.
“The fast bowler Binura Fernando sprained his left ankle during a training session that was held yesterday (15 July 2021). It is a lateral ligament sprain. “Fernando will not be available for the ODI series of the Indian tour through Sri Lanka.” it added.
Now Sri Lanka must rely Dhananjaya De Silva, Avishka Fernano and Isuru Udana for experience. However, their section for spin bowling looks like a fixed one Akila Dananjaya, Lakshan Sandakan and Wanidu Hasaranga.
The six-match series begins on July 18 with the first of three one-dayers.
