The first WTC cycle is set up for teams to fight it in red ball cricket and to International Cricket Council (ICC) Test Rankings.

The India Cricket Management Board (BCCI) President Sourav GangulyIndia, meanwhile, praised for defeating Australia in the Border Gavascar Trophy 2021 even when their key players were missing.
‘I think they [series] a win against Australia was the highlight for me. Australia have always been a strong team, and it was a huge success to beat them at home [achievement] by India. With key players missing out, it was great that their substitutes delivered. “India has always played well and that is why they are in the final,” Ganguly tells The Week Magazine in an interview.
While Ravi Shastri, Yuvraj Singh felt that a one-off final was not enough judging by the caliber of the top two sides, Ganguly felt it was too early to comment on this topic.
“It’s too early to tell. Let this season end. The ICC will look at many things. At this stage I would rather wait before I say anything, ” he said.
The 48-year-old further added that the idea of holding a Test tournament was a good concept as it is considered the purest form of cricket.
‘It’s definitely a very good concept. I think Test cricket is the biggest and strongest form of cricket and it should have a final. As for the one-off final, this is the first [edition]. Things will be looked at for the future. The ICC will receive feedback from all stakeholders, ” Ganguly shut down.
