Southern Brave men and Oval Invincibles women – the champions of The Hundred in 2021

Paul Stirling’s flash powered Southern brave to a victory of 32 runs Birmingham Phoenix in the first male title of The Hundred at Lord’s on Saturday. The Irishman knocked down 61 off just 36 balls with 2 fours and six sixes. He was complemented by an unbeaten 44 off 19 balls from Ross Whiteley to set the opponents an imposing goal of 169.

The Phoenix threatens to deteriorate overall as English international Liam Livingstone hit 46 off 19 balls before being brilliantly run out by Span David.

Phoenix Captain Moeen Ali (36 of 30) left Livingstone shortly afterwards, and the chase never seemed easy for them after that.

“We felt in the end that they got 15, 20 runs too many,” Moeen said during the post-match presentation. ‘I think they were better than us tonight, but as long as Livie was there, we had a chance. I thought he was amazing tonight. ”

Earlier in the day, the Oval invincible won the women’s title by the Southern brave with 48 runs. Brave, chasing 122, was put together for just 73 – the lowest total of the competition.

Invincibles are all-rounder Marizanne Kapp, who was a star in the elimination by Friday Birmingham Phoenix, reached the center again and hit 26 off 14 balls before taking four wickets for nine runs.
