Paaltjiewagter batsman Kusal Perera, which India and the continued misses South Africa series, is included in The team of 15 members from Sri Lanka for the ICC T20 Men’s World Cup, to be held from 17 October to 14 November in Oman.
“The group has been approved by the Minister of Youth and Sport, Namal Rajapaksa,” said Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) in an official edition.
The group of 15 members is led by a versatile player Dasun Shanaka while Sri Lanka will start their campaign on October 18 against Namibia in Abu Dhabi in Group A of the first round, where they would also compete with Ireland and the Netherlands.
21-year-old spinner Maheesh Theekshana, who made his T20I debuts Friday against South Africa and fired Heinrich Klaasen, was also selected for the party event.
Meanwhile, it Akila Dananjaya, Lahiru Kumara, Pulina Tharanga and Binura Fernando was deposited to reserves.
The only major omissions from the team were Danushka Gunathilaka, Niroshan Dickwella and Kusal Mendis. The trio has banned from all forms of international cricket for a year for violating the Covid-19 protocols during their tour of England in July.
