St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots tackle Guyana Amazon Warriors Saturday in the fifth game of the CPL 2021 at Warner Park, St Kitts. Both teams started their respective campaigns on a winning note. They occupied the first two places on the points ladder. St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots played their first game against Barbados Royals. Ewin Lewis and Devon Thomas open up to them, while Chris Gayle came in at number three. After 7.1 overs, St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots beat at 39 for 4.
Sherfane Rutherford en Dwayne Bravo then led the recovery and helped the team reach a winning total. The duo shared an important 115-run partnership for the fifth wicket and took the game away from the Royals. Rutherford scored 53 off 47, while Dwayne Bravo scored 47 off 35 balls. At the end of the first innings, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots put together a whopping 175 runs total.
The devastating opening pair of Glenn Phillips and Johnson Charles did not last too long as the Barbados Royals lost their first two wickets for just 27 runs. Shai Hope (44 of 38) and Azam Khan (28 of 16) showed fights, but it was never enough. St. Kitts eventually won the game by 21 runs. With the ball, Dominic Drakes and Sheldon Cottrell each picked up two wickets.
Guyana Amazon Warriors played their first game against Trinbago Knight Riders. The Warriors scored a competitive total of 142 runs in the first innings, thanks to a brilliant half-century from Shimron Hetmyer. That was enough for the defending champion, as Kieron Pollard and Co could only score 133 in the second innings. Romario Shepherd played with the ball for the Warriors. He finishes with the figures of 3 for 15 in 3 overs. On top of that, Imran Tahir and Odean Smith each picked up two wickets.
Sowel St. Kitts as Nevis Patriots and Guyana Amazon Warriors would like to continue the winning momentum. It will be interesting to see who gets the upper hand on Saturday. Meanwhile, we look at the head-to-head record from both sides in the competition.
