Indian batsman Suryakumar Yadav was overwhelmed after seeing his name in the T20 World Cup in India and thanked his family and coaches for their contribution.
The Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) on Wednesday announced a group of 15 members for the mega-event to be played in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) next month.
Suryakumar, who made his T20I debut against England in March this year, began his career with a spectacular six against Jofra Archer and scored 57 runs from 31 balls in his debut innings in the fourth T20I.
Dreams come true: Suryakumar Yadav
During the Sri Lanka tour, Suryakumar accumulated 124 runs in three innings at an average of 62.00 and also hit a fifty in the only T20I match he played before being isolated with several players after the versatile Krunal Pandya contracted the COVID-19 virus.
Yadav had to be patient to find his way in the Indian team as his performances for the Indian A team and Mumbai Indians deserved his choice in the team. His inclusion will strengthen the middle order of the Indian batting line-up.
The 30-year-old went to his Twitter account to express his gratitude for his close contact and said he was emotional to get the opportunity.
“Dreams come true. Very honored and emotional to have the opportunity to represent my country in the T20 World Cup,” Suryakumar tweeted.
‘THANK YOU to my coaches and family for their sacrifices and constant love and support. Totally overwhelmed by receiving so many wishes #blessed, “he added.
