Noble Yeats has died at the age of 11 following a bout of colic. He was a celebrated racehorse known for his stunning victory in the 2022 Grand National.

As of early Tuesday, news broke about his passing. This follows a grim situation that developed just days prior.

On April 15, 2026, Noble Yeats showed signs of discomfort. His owners sought veterinary help as they hoped for recovery.

Robert Waley-Cohen described the situation as dire. “He looked very uncomfortable on Wednesday so the vet came out and everybody was up all night treating him and hoping he would pull through,” he said. “But unfortunately he went the other way. It was a grim moment.”

Noble Yeats won the Grand National as a 50-1 outsider. He became the first seven-year-old to win since Bogskar in 1940.

His career included seven total victories and was trained by Emmet Mullins. Sam Waley-Cohen rode him to that historic Grand National win.

Noble Yeats retired at age nine due to arthritis. His last race took place at Leopardstown during the 2024 Christmas festival.

Details remain unconfirmed regarding any further arrangements following his death. However, plans are underway to memorialize him.

The Waley-Cohens intend to plant a tree above Noble Yeats’ ashes as a tribute to his legacy. Sam Waley-Cohen reflected on their connection: “He gave us one of the great days of our lives and fulfilled our dreams.”

His ability outstripped his looks—he was more than just a horse; he was a symbol of triumph and resilience in horse racing.

This unexpected loss resonates deeply within the racing community and among fans who cherished his remarkable journey.
