Team India resumed their net sessions in Durham ahead of the five-match Test series starting next week against England in Nottingham. The outfit led by Virat Kohli will make their next allocation to the English shore after a humble eight-wicket loss in the final of the World Test New Zealand in Southampton. People like Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, Cheteshwar Pujara, Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant have been seen practicing.
The warm-up of Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane was a huge boost as both did not play in the practice match against County Select XI in Durham. Captain Virat Kohli and Vice Captain Ajinkya Rahane. Kohli and Rahane did not take part in the three-day practice match against County Select XI in Durham as the former had a stiff back and the last swollen thigh muscle.
However, the experienced duo will soon return to the nets and will aim to be at their best for the series. In the three-day warm-up match, KL Rahul impressed the most and scored a century in the first innings, while Ravindra Jadeja made half a century. They added more than 100 between them to save their side from a precarious position. Tempo bowler Mohammed Siraj also made an indisputable case for the selection in the opening Test, while staying between the wickets.
The visitors also have reinforcements in the form of Suryakumar Yadav and Prithvi Shaw in place of Shubman Gill, Avesh Khan and Washington Sundar. All three returned home due to injuries. Even though the English team looks fragile, India must do their best to beat them, especially with the bat. Although Kohli played with the bat three years ago, the other batsmen could not engage much. Sam Curran, the everyday seam bowler, also played a key role in England’s 4-1 win over India in 2018 in the series.
