Indian opener KL Rahul it supported Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane to soon find their lost form. Rahul reckons that Pujara and Rahane are world-class players and have enough experience to handle the battle they are currently facing.
Pujara and Rahane are struggling to score runs this year, only in the 1920s. In the ongoing series in England, the experienced pair seem out of touch. In the first Test at Trent Bridge in Nottingham, Pujara managed to score 4 and 12, while the right-handed batsman made just 9 runs in the first innings in the running second Test at Lords Cricket Ground. Similarly, Rahane scored 5 runs in the series opener, while one in the first set of the second Test.
‘Pujara and Ajinkya did the job for India many times while we were in trouble. They are world-class experienced players, so they know how to get out of a few innings, but they have not scored runs. says Rahul to the press after the end of the second day’s game in London.
‘You also have to realize that they are playing in difficult circumstances. In English conditions, batting is always going to be a challenge; you’re going to get good balls. You can not get out there and score runs in every innings, but if you get a start, you have to count it. “ he added.
Rahul, who scored a huge century in the first innings of the second Test, revealed that it was a special feeling to have his name on the honors board as it is a sense of accomplishment.
“Every time you go out to play for your country, you want to score points and the team starts well. It was special when I stepped out of the ground, and when you see your name on the honors board, you feel a sense of accomplishment and pride, and I do not differ. Every test hundred is very special to me, and when it’s with Lord, it gets a little sweeter. ” Rahul added further.
