In the second T20I of the ongoing three-match match between Zimbabwe and Bangladesh, the host scored a remarkable victory to tie the series 1-1.
The chief architect behind the epic victory in Zimbabwe was Wesley Madhevere, which illuminated the Harare Sports Club with its sensational batting. The 20-year-old broke down the bowling attack in Bangladesh and maintained the momentum in favor of the home side despite falling wickets at regular intervals.
Madhevere eventually scored 73 runs from 57 deliveries using five fours and three sixes. Apart from the batting, Dion Myers and Ryan Burl made valuable contributions to take the team’s total to 166/6 in their allotted 20 overs. While Myers made 26 of 21 balls, Burl remained unbeaten on 34 of 19 deliveries, including two fours and as many maximums.
For the tour party, Tight Islam was their choice of the bowler. The left-arm midfielder scored three wickets for 33 in his quota of 4 overs.
In response, the Mahmudullah-led Bangladesh could only manage to score 143 in 19.5 overs, losing the match by 23 runs. Shamim Hossain and Afif Hossain were the only players to cross the 20-run mark. While Hossain scored 24 off 25 balls, Shamim made 29 off 13 deliveries.
Wellington Masakadza was the most successful bowler for Zimbabwe, with a three-wicket run for just 20 runs in his four-over quota. Luke Jongwe also shone with the ball when he took three scalps for 31 in 3.5 overs.

What a victory for Zimbabwe – beat Bangladesh by 23 runs and level the T20 series 1-1 with one game left – 3 wickets by Masakadza, 2 wickets by Muzarabani & Chatara. The star with the bat was the young talented Madhevere. #ZIMvBAN

Wesley Madhevere, forgetting his terrible start to testing cricket, this kid is an amazing world-class talent. Add Myers, Kaitano, Muzarabani and Milton, we have had a fairly stable and youthful core of the team for years

Wesley Madhevere batted with positive intent, saw him against pack in Pakistan and during pack tour by zim. Good technique and positive intention. And to be honest, I just like batsmen who are counterattacks. #ZIMvBAN
