Twitter erupts as Shreyas Iyer hits a century on his debut in Kanpur Test

On Friday, Shreyas Iyer etched his name in history books when he became the fifteenth Indian batsman to hit a century in his debut match in Test cricket. He also became the third Indian to hit a ton against New Zealand in his first Test.

Iyer reached the milestone against the Black Caps Day 2 of the ongoing first test at Green Park in Kanpur. On the first ball of the 92nd over of India’s first innings, the Mumbaikar batsman gently tapped the ball behind the point to take a pair to complete his century. Although, in the 97th over, Iyer was caught by Will Young for 105 runs. He scored 13 fours and a couple of sixes.
