Twitter reactions: Evin Lewis’ amazing batting power gives St Kitts and Nevis Patriots to the final of CPL 2021

St Kitts and Nevis Patriots (SNP) secures a place in the final of the 2021 ongoing edition Caribbean Premier League (CPL) with a stunning seven-wicket victory over the Guyana Amazon Warriors (GAW) at Warner Park in Basseterre Tuesday.

To bat first, the Warriors place 178/9 on the scoreboard in their allotted 20 overs. Openers Brandon King and Chandrapaul Maharaj contributed 27 runs each, while captain Nicholas Pooran made 26 of 14 balls with the help of one four and three sixes.

But, Shimron Hetmyer ended up as a top scorer for the Warriors. He scored an important 45 out of 20 deliveries, including six boundaries. For the Patriots, Jon-Russ Jaggesar and Fawad Ahmed both bowled excellently. While Jaggesar picked up two headers for 19 runs in 4 overs, Fawad grabbed a few wickets for 22 runs in 4 overs.

In response, the Patriots opened the innings with a power-hitter Chris Gayle, which laid the groundwork for a successful chase, ahead Evin Lewis then takes the lead and sends his side to an unforgettable victory. Gayle scored a quick shot 42 out of 27 deliveries, including five fours and three sixes.

On the other hand, Lewis remained unbeaten on a beat of 39 balls by 77 runs to take his team over the finish line. He won eight sixes and three fours during his game with the Willow.

The Dwayne Bravo Guided Side chased the goal in 17.5 overs at the back with seven wickets in hand. Lewis was named ‘Player of the Match’ for his spectacular batting.

β€œI wanted to rest (in the previous game) and wanted to come back fresh. It helps to have Gayle, as we both love to follow it from the beginning. He (Bravo) told me I had to bat deep and make sure I finished the game. “ said Lewis after the game.
