Fawad Alam’s sensational effort with the bat helped Pakistan dominates day 3 of the current second Test against West India in Sabina Park in Kingston, Jamaica.
Pakistan resumed proceedings from their 212/4 score as the second day of the match was canceled due to rain and wet outfield.
Fawad, who retired at the opening day at 76, returned after the dismissal of Faheem Ashraf. The left-handed victim scored his fifth Test century and remained unbeaten at 124 before the visitors declared their first innings for 302/9 in 110 overs.
In response, the hosts lost their three wickets for just 39 runs in 18 overs. Pakistani pacer Shaheen Afridi drew the first blood by removing it Kieran Powell (5) in the fourth over. The left-winger didn’t just stop there when he cleaned up Windies’ captain Kraigg Brathwaite (4) in his next over. Soon Ashraf also joined the party and was fired Roston Chase (10).
After a wonderful effort with the willow, Fawad said he was always happy to reach a triple figure and revealed that his father was his biggest motivation.
“It was challenging. The circumstances were not easy; heat and humidity, and we were 2 for 3, and we had to come back. We needed a partnership, and that’s what Babar and I did, ‘ says Fawad after the day’s game.
“I’m very happy. Every time you earn a century for your country, you feel proud. I try to keep it simple. I keep talking to my father; he always told me that my time would come and to believe in myself, ” added the 35-year-old.
Here’s how Twitter responded:
I take substance over style; Production on aesthetics every day. Fawad Alam deserves every run and more that the cricket gods deem necessary for him. 4 centuries in the last 12 months since his return👏🏻👏🏻.

The biggest what-if-moment in cricket is what-if Fawad Alam achieved a good test in the test arena! Was taken down in 2009 after 3 tests. He scored a ton during his Test debut. He scored his 5th Test in his 13th Test. He should have played 100 Tests by now. Never gave up. That’s why he’s an inspiration

Fawad Alam is on a mission to make up for all the years lost in selection politics, and he does it in the best way – by letting his bat speak!

Do not compare who is the best batsman, but interesting:
Fawad Alam has 5 centuries in 13 Tests
Babar Azam has 5 centuries in 35 Tests#Cricket

Fawad Alam would have scored 10,000 runs and 30 hundreds if he had not dropped. Such a sad story😒 #WIvPAK

Fawad Alam’s 5th Test 100 comes in his 22nd innings of his career. No other Pakistani batsman has scored 5 100s in the first 22 innings of his career. 9 different batsmen from Pak had 3 each in their first 22 overs. The fastest after the 5th Test 100 is Younis Khan – 28 overs. #WIvPAK pic.twitter.com/FTZbBxwksh

Fawad Alam is an inspiration to all cricketers in the world – ten years from the Test team, and in the last ten months he has scored 4 Tests, including 3 away hundreds – if you need inspiration to come back, then there is no one better than Fawad Alam.
