Allrounder in Bangladesh Shakib Al Hasan‘s tremendous bowling performance in the fifth T20I on Monday helped his team clinch the 5-match series 4-1 against Australia at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka.
Bangladesh, who defended a meager total of 122, displayed remarkable bowling to gather the visitors on their lowest score of 62 runs ever. Shakib was the chief architect behind the epic performance. He bagged a four-wicket haul for nine runs in 3.4 overs, including a girl.
Shakib rejects people like Matthew Wade (22), Ashton Turner (1), Nathan Ellis (1), en Adam Zampa (4). Wade was the top scorer for his team and the only victim to cross the 20-run mark in the Australian innings.
Shakib also achieved a personal milestone as he became the first T20I player for men to reach the 100-wicket-1000-run standard. The 34-year-old is the third overall player to achieve such an achievement after Australia Ellyse Perry (1243 runs, 115 wickets) and those of Pakistan Nida Dar (1207 runs and 103 wickets).
Apart from Shakib, Mohammad Saifuddin bowled brilliantly and picked up three scalps for just 12 runs in 3 overs.
Earlier, the hosts scored 122/8 in their allotted 20 overs, with opener Mohammad Naim with a maximum of 23 runs from 23 balls, using two boundaries, including a six. For the tour party, Nathan Ellis (2/16) and Daniel Christian (2/17) each bagged a few wickets.
“I still enjoy my game. Thanks to my teammates, this achievement would not have been possible. The wicket was tough, but we kept our nerves. All in all a very good series for us. To be honest, if we look at the last game, we scored 104 or 105 and we gained momentum to defend the chase. It was not easy for the batsmen in this series, but the bowlers did well. We are trying to improve all our areas, ” says Shakib as he ‘Player of the match and series’ award.

Aus all out 62. Second consecutive series lost 1-4. Since the best pieces of summer are handed over to this form of cricket in the interior, with red ball cricket pushed to the sidelines, I’m not sure if it’s more acceptable.

Australia thank their stars for sure they would not play Tests on this tour to Bangladesh.
