Twitter recovers MS Dhoni’s ‘removed’ blue tick; explain the reason behind it

Former Indian captain MS Dhoni is extremely popular on social media. Despite his frequent inactivity, the born Ranchi superstar often becomes a talking point among his followers. On Friday, however, Dhoni started tending to a completely different reason on social media.

It all happened after MSD’s fans noticed that the US micro-blogging and social networking platform Twitter remove the blue tick from the veteran stampers’ account. But after the big uproar by his fans, Twitter has restored the verified badge of Dhoni’s Twitter handle.

The blue tick is a Twitter verification symbol, and is usually given to individuals or organizations to distinguish the original account from others. Dhoni last tweeted on January 8, 2021. After the verified badge was restored, Twitter explained the reason for it.

While talking to YEARS, an official Twitter spokesperson said the social networking site’s verification policy clearly states that it can automatically remove the verified badge if the account remains inactive for six months.

‘As explained in the Twitter verification policy, Twitter can automatically remove the blue verified badge and verified status if the account becomes inactive or incomplete. Inactivity is based on login. To keep the account active, the account holder must report at least every six months, ” said the spokesman.
