South Africa won the T20I series of five matches against West Indies by 25 runs at the National Cricket Stadium in Grenada.
Left arm rotator Tabraiz Shamsi shone with the ball again and got stuck on the Windies victory march as the host tried to chase down the visitors’ total of 168/4, but was limited to 143 for nine. This is South Africa’s first victory in the T20I series since March 2019, with the Proteas Test series wins last month in the Caribbean.
After South Africa chose to bat first in the fifth and final T20I, it is a partnership of 128 runs Quinton de Kock (60 of 42) and Aiden Markram (70 runs off 48 balls), a record for any wicket by the Proteas against West Indies.
Short counts: South Africa 168-4 in 20 overs (Aiden Markram 70, Quinton de Kock 60; Fidel Edwards 2/19) beat West Indies 143-9 in 20 overs (Evin Lewis 52; Lungi Ngidi 3/32) by 25 runs.
Here’s how Twitter responds:
Markram will play every match test, ODI or T20I in the next three years, unless he is injured.

Over the five matches between West Indies and South Africa in Grenada, there was only a difference of eight runs between the first innings total.

Wake up to a series victory by a ‘completed team’ against one of the most devastating t20 batsmen. I repeat, NEVER write anyone off in Sports. Always believed someone could defeat on a particular day#WIvSA

For the first time in almost nine years, South Africa wins a bilateral decision on the T20I series.
They lose each of their last eight bilateral T20I series decisions after winning two such matches against New Zealand in 2012. #WIvSA

Markram and de Kock, together on the fold, make me really excited. And now, SA for the win .. by 20 runs. Best seam workers in the world with a much underestimated twist attack.
