Twitterati rejoices over KL Rahul achieving a beautifully crafted century in the second Test with the Lord

Indian opener KL Rahul scored a brilliant century on the first day of the second Test against England at Lord’s. The opener looked in control during his innings and reached the boundary with a boundary Mark Wood.

After being beaten in the bat, India need a good start under cloudy conditions made to the tune of James Anderson. Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul started waking up and took the time to go inside. After the first bowling change, Rohit switched while Rahul continued to hang on.

The two have a standing of 100 runs, with a majority of runs coming from Rohit’s willow tree. He was aiming to score the elusive overseas ton, but fell short by 17 runs. Anderson, the one who fired Rohit, was also responsible for Cheteshwar Pujara. Pujara, who went through late, was again caught for a delivery outside with minimal foot movement.

However, the undisturbed Rahul continued from where he left off in the first Test. By taking out the lush casing, the ball drifts to too many balls while respecting the good deliveries, and Rahul pulls together and in the presence of Kohli. He brought a well-deserved century in the 78th over when he cut away a wide delivery along the gorge for a boundary.

With this performance he etched his name on the Lord’s plate of honor, an achievement that even the great Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara could not accomplish. After 31 years, he became the first Indian opener to achieve a century at Lord’s. The previous one to do so was current head coach Ravi Shastri in 1990.

Before the series, Rahul was not even in contention for a place in the XI. An injury gave him the opportunity that the Karnataka batsman could seize with both hands.

After his century, Twitter was awe-inspiring for the 29-year-old’s attractive beat. Some have even said that this innings could be the relief arc in Rahul’s Test career.
