Sri Lanka won their first T20I series and also their first bilateral series (in various formats) against a Covid-beaten Indian team at home.
And one of the biggest reasons why they did it was the brilliant performances of Wanindu Hasaranga during which he created a web around the Indian batsmen.
Hasaranga claimed a total of 7 wickets in three T20Is at an average of 9.57 and an economy of 5.58.
He was at his best in his turn in the series, where he scored barely credible figures of 4/9 in four overs, which completely broke the back of an unfortunate Indian batting unit when the visitors scored their third lowest score (8/81 ) in T20I. cricket.
Hasaranga was equally brilliant with the bat as he played an important role on very sluggish roads.
He was eventually named the ‘Player of the Series’ and since then there has been a buzz about the possible turnaround of the leg-spinner in the IPL.
Hasaranga recently appeared on former pacer Lasith Malinga’s Youtube channel where he claims that as many as two IPL franchises have approached him since the Indian series.
‘Two IPL teams approached me after the series against India. It’s a big problem to get a chance to play in the IPL, and it’s my dream to one day appear in the IPL, ‘said Wanindu Hasaranga.
While Wanindu Hasaranga did not disclose exactly which IPL franchise approached him, one of them may be Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore, as there were some media reports a few days ago claiming that the franchise was in Bangalore the Sri Lankan approached Lankan leg turner.
