The American man’s national team player Christian Pulisic was forced out of the second half of Wednesday’s World Cup qualifier against Honduras with an apparent leg injury.
The Chelsea winger was forced out in the 62nd minute of Wednesday’s game after trying to continue playing with a noticeable slack.
Pulisic, who played the entire 90 minutes against Canada on Sunday, despite recently recovering from Covid-19, was replaced by Cristian Roldan, while the USA was tied at 1-1 at the time with Los Catrachos in San Pedro Sula.
The injury of USMNT
Pulisic’s injury comes amid a series of issues for the US that robbed the team of several key players during the international break.
After seeing Tim Weah just before the camp on the sidelines, Gio Reyna and Sergino Dest left the team after sustaining their own injuries.
Zack Steffen also could not appear, after testing positive for Covid-19 after suffering a back injury, while Weston McKennie did not appear against Canada or Honduras after violating the Covid protocols.
Next for Pulisic
Wednesday’s game is the USMNT’s last of the international break with Pulisic returning to Chelsea in the coming days.
Chelsea will host Aston Villa on Saturday before starting their Champions League defense against Zenit on Tuesday.
The USMNT meanwhile returns to qualifying for the World Cup next month, hosting Jamaica on October 7.
