Birthday boy Wanindu Hasaranga hosted a series match against Team India in the last T20I when he showcased the precious talent for the ninth time in his young career.
And deservedly, Hasaranga is named the ‘Player of the Match’ and ‘Player of the Series’ for his beautiful performance.
On a course that helped the spinners, Hasaranga took full advantage of the conditions as he rioted against empty young Indian batsmen.
Hasaranga fired Ruturaj Gaikwad and Sanju Samson in his very first over to steer India firmly on the back foot from which they never recovered.
The right-handed bowler then returned to fire Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Varun Chakravarthy to finally finish with almost credible figures of 4/9 in four overs.
Hasaranga ended the series with 7 wickets in three matches. He also jumped with the bat and scored an important 6-ball 12 in the second match which helped Sri Lanka keep the questioning pace.
Also in the third T20I, he supported his brilliant game of 4/9 in four overs with an unbeaten 9-ball 14.
During the post-match presentation, Wanindu Hasaranga expressed his joy at the way his team played throughout the series.
He also gave insights into his process, saying he always wants to look at batting balls to build pressure on the batsman that ultimately leads to a wicket.
“The wicket was slow, and our spinners bowled very well. When I bowl, I always try to bake dots. It helps to get wickets. The fieldwork also helps. I’m very happy because boys played very well throughout the series, both in ODIs and T20Is. Said Wanindu Hasaranga.
