During the rain-affected third ODI between England and Sri Lanka at Bristol’s County Ground, English wicketkeeper Jonny Bairstow grabbed a sensational catch with one hand to fire the tourists’ lower-order batsman Chamika Karunaratne.
It all happened in the 30th innings of the first innings when Karunaratne a Tom Curran delivery behind the stumps. With the ball between Bairstow and Joe Root – fielding with the first slip – it was the wicketkeeper who took a full dive to complete the catch.
Karunaratne, who batted at number 8, left after scoring just 11 runs from 29 deliveries.

While Sam Curran won five wickets to secure England’s victory in the second ODI, it was his older brother Tom who scored 4-35 as Kusal Perera & Co. was bundled for 166 with 53 balls left in their innings.
Later, the rains robbed England of the chance to clean up, as it had to abandon the third ODI. The host ended the series 2-0.
