India from outside spinner Ravichandran Ashwin plays his first County Championship game for Surrey at The Oval. Ashwin, who replaced the injured fast bowler Kyle Jamieson for this match, gave only 2 runs in the first over of the match to Somerset starting candidates Devon Conway and Steven Davies.
The 34-year-old player later snatched the wicket of the No. 3 batsman Tom Lammonby for 42 in the 40th innings to reduce Somerset to 113 for 3.
Lammonby left the ball bounced in a good length area, only to have his stump fail. It was an absolute peach of delivery because the field did not have much help for the spinners.

Ashwin previously played for Nottinghamshire and Worcestershire in the English county. The match against Somerset will be his only match for Surrey, as after this meeting he will join the rest of the Indian squad for the upcoming practice matches before their five-series Test series against England.
The first Test will take place from 4 August in Nottingham.
