The Moroccan star will leave the Serie A champions after spending just one season at the club
Inter chief executive Giuseppe Marotta has confirmed winger Achraf Hakimi will be a PSG player within the next 24 hours.
Hakimi only joined Inter from Real Madrid last summer, and the Moroccan helped the club to win the Serie A title 2020-21 in its first season at the club.
Amid Inter’s financial problems, however, the club was forced to sell Hakimi to raise funds.
What was said?
“We are in the final stages for Hakimi to PSG, it will be a final deal within 24 hours,” Marotta said Sky Italy. ‘It’s obviously a painful moment for us, but I’m an administrator who has to guarantee the financial sustainability of the club in a difficult time for the football world in general.
“Once the Hakimi operation is completed, it will give us some breathing space and we really hope that we do not have to sell any other big players anymore, because we want to keep most of the group that won the Scudetto. ”
Regarding Lautaro Martinez, another Inter star linked to the move, Marotta said: “We want to keep him.”
Why is Hakimi being sold?
Hakimi was a key artist for Inter in 2020-21, scoring seven times in the league and scoring eight strokes.
The 22-year-old fitted the wing perfectly in Antonio Conte’s 3-5-2 setup as he helped Inter win the title for the first time since 2009-10, but the club’s financial problems continued after the season became clear. with Conte leaves after learning of his stars may need to be sold.
Romelu Lukaku and Martinez are named as the first players, but it will be Hakimi who leaves while the club wants to raise money.
According to reports, PSG could pay up to € 70 million (£ 60 million / $ 83 million) plus bonuses for Hakimi, which is a significant profit for Inter, who paid € 40 million (£ 36 million / $ 45 million) last summer.
