The second T20 international of the ongoing series of five matches between West Indies and Australia takes place on Saturday (July 10) at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in St Lucia.
The hosts are already ahead of the series after defeating the visitors in the opening match. Despite only 145 runs on the scoreboard, the Nicholas Pooran-led side came on top of Aussies and packed them for only 127, win the match by 18 runs.
Windies will also want to gain momentum in the second T20I. On the other side, Aaron Finch’s Australia will focus on jumping back into the series.
The previous match was a low score, and due to the inertia of the pitch on the Daren Sammy National Cricket Ground, one can expect a similar match. Predecessors get a bit of bounce and movement off the deck, so batting won’t be easy.
Windies regular skipper Kieron Pollard was ruled out of the first T20I due to a hamstring injury, and Pooran led the team into the match. There is no denying that if Pollard is fit enough, he will return to playing XI and lead the team. However, it is highly unlikely that he will be available for the second game. If that happens, it’s going to be the same XI who played the first game.
WI XI: Nicholas Pooran (c & wk), Lendl Simmons, Evin Lewis, Chris Gayle, Shimron Hetmyer, Andre Russell, Dwayne Bravo, Fabian Allen, Hayden Walsh, Obed McCoy, Fidel Edwards.
It is doubtful that Finch will make any changes in Game XI after just one bad game. Therefore, fans can see the similar team in the second game that the series opener played.
FROM XI: Aaron Finch (c), Matthew Wade (wk), Mitchell Marsh, Josh Philippe, Moises Henriques, Ben McDermott, Daniel Christian, Ashton Agar, Mitchell Starc, Adam Zampa, Josh Hazlewood.
