After the loss of the World Cup (WTC) final against New Zealand, fans and various cricket experts asked questions Virat Kohli‘s captaincy and even suggested a few names that could replace him as captain of Team India.
However, Kohli has so far done phenomenal work as an Indian skipper. With 33 wins, the Delhi boy is India’s most successful Test captain and has a winning percentage of more than 70 in one – day matches and more than 65 in the shortest format. Although Kohli could not yet win an ICC title, India went up and emerged as a dominant team from the fight.
Under Kohli’s leadership, the Indian team finished five years in a row as the no. 1 Test team and they win a Test series in Australia after 70 years. Yet the time will come when Kohli, like his predecessor, MS Dhoni, will have to retire, and India will see a new captain.
But the question that arises here is who could be next to lead India to Kohli? Well, the former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has the answer. The 2011 World Cup-winning player counts the wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant could become the successor of Kohli.
In an interview with Times of India, Chose Yuvraj Pant as the next big thing and said he could be a potential Indian captain as he is chirping and has a smart brain.
‘I also see Rishabh in the future as a potential Indian captain. Because he is jumpy, chirping and talking around, “ said Yuvraj.
Yuvraj feels that Pant has done an incredibly good job Indian Premier League (IPL) lace Delhi Capitals (DC), and people should look to him as the next Indian captain.
‘But I feel he certainly has a smart brain too, because I saw him when he was captain in the IPL for Delhi Capitals. He did incredible work. “People should therefore look to him as the next captain of the Indian team in the coming years,” added Yuvraj.
Pant recently led DC in the IPL 2021, where he took the team to the top of the standings with 12 points from eight games. On the batting surface, Pant was able to score 213 runs at an average of 35.5 with a few half-centuries.
