West Indian legend Chris Gayle proved once again that age is just a number. The ‘Universe Boss’ is 41 years old, but he never misses the chance to show his enthusiasm and unique celebrations. He has a look at the same in the recently concluded 4th T20I against South Africa in the National Cricket Stadium in Grenada.
During the match, Gayle did not contribute much with the bat, after scoring only 5 runs. With the ball and on the field, however, the Jamaican was as electric as a 20-year-old. Gayle stunned his fans by breaking into a wagon wheel and staging an almost summer-like celebration after dismissing the Proteas starting candidate Reeza Hendricks.
It all happened on the first ball of the second over of South Africa’s innings when Gayle threw a delivery out and asked Hendricks to drive. The right-handed batsman did exactly that, but missed the ball completely. He left his fold inviting Nicholas Pooran to remove the bail. The wicketkeeper did not miss the chance and Hendricks climbed out for 2 runs.
Here is the video:
“The guys recommend me to follow Kevin Sinclair’s celebration.”

While talking to commentators on the air right after he performed the dazzling move, Gayle revealed that his teammates asked him to celebrate Kevin Sinclair – known for his somersault performances on the field.
“Yes, it’s a wagon wheel,” said Gayle when asked if it was a wagon wheel or a summersault.
“Well, the guys recommend me to follow up on the Sinclair celebration,” he added.
Pollard, Bravo, sends West Indies to tie the series
After being asked to bat first, the Men place Maroon 167/6 on the board, thanks to a remarkable knock from their skipper Kieron Pollard. The Trinidadian recorded an unbeaten 51 from 25 deliveries using two fours and five sixes. Apart from Pollard, opener Lendl Simmons made a valuable contribution of 47 runs.
In response, the visitors only managed to reach 146/9, lost the match by 21 runs. Dwayne Bravo exhibited excellent bowling by picking up a 4-wicket haul. Quinton de Kock remained the best scorer for the tour party with 60 runs.
The series decision will take place on Saturday (03 July) at the same venue.
