The Seattle Storm (16-7), losers of two in a row, are on track against the New York Liberty (11-12) to close their two-game mini-series Friday at 7 p.m. ET. The Dallas Wings (10-13) return home after a win over the Chicago Sky to last place Indiana Fever (4-18) at 20:00 ET.
In their last meeting on Wednesday, the Liberty beat the Storm 83-79, to overcome a 10-point deficit in the last quarter. The Liberty outscored the Storm 21-7 in the fourth quarter. Seattle have been playing without Sue Bird and Breanna Stewart since the start of the season as they rested from their Olympic race.
Jewell Loyd scored 35 points in the defeat, with Katie Lou Samuelson as the other Storm player to score double figures (15 points). Loyd scored 21 points in the third, but failed to score in the final quarter. The Storm was 9-of-26 (34.6 percent) on 3-point shooting and 43.7 percent overall. Offensive execution needs to be improved, no matter who is on the floor.
The Liberty will be hoping their hot outside shooting continues as they shoot 12-of-25 from outside the arc in their win over the Storm. Rebecca Allen was 5-out-6 on 3-points when she finished with 17 points off the bench. Betnijah Laney also scored 17 points, while Sabrina Ionescu and Natasha Howard each added 10 points.
The Liberty has 21 turnovers, their eighth game of the season with 20 or more turnovers. With the win, Liberty moved to 4-3 in such games. In the future, the Liberty should be better at this aspect of their game.
Play-off rounds in the balance
The Wings have been 1-1 since the start of the season and sit in eighth place, just half a game ahead of the Los Angeles Sparks who have won three consecutive games since returning from the WNBA. With only nine games left, the wing will have to find another level if they want to reach the play-offs after failing to qualify since 2018. The fever puts five games behind the wing.
The Wings and Fever meet for the second time this season. Dallas won the first meeting with ease, 89-64.
The Wings are led by Arike Ogunbowale, who scored 18.8 points per game. Marina Mabrey averages 13.2 points, but has not been able to reach double figures in her last four games. Allisha Gray scored 20 points for the Wings in their last win and scored 12 points per game. Satou Sabally has been suffering from an Achilles injury since the Olympic break and has not returned to action.

The Fever have lost the two games they have played since the start of the season, after losing nine points to the Sparks and the Phoenix Mercury. The fever may show signs of improvement, but it’s probably too late at this point in the season.
The Fever took an unusually high 22 tries in their loss to Mercury, which was 10 of them. The Fever were a 2-point focused team this season, shoot 75.9 percent of their shots from inside the arc, which is second in the league.
Both defenses are close to the underside of the league so it can become a shootout.
