WWE confirms SummerSlam for August 21 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas


WWE’s biggest event of the summer officially has a home, as the promotion announced that the event will be held on August 21 from the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. WWE made the location official during the preseason games for the Belmont Stakes, confirming rumors that the spectacular summer would end up in Vegas.

The event is unique in several ways. This will be the first time that SummerSlam in a NFL stadium and also takes place on Saturday, rather than Sunday, as is the tradition for WWE pay-per-view events.

The appointment also puts the event in Las Vegas on the same night as the giant boxing match between Manny Pacquiao and Errol Spence Jr.

SummerSlam will be attended by fans, with WWE returning to the crowd and live tour in July. Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, only WrestleMania 37 has hosted a live crowd for the promotion in April. WWE has been using the ThunderDome, a virtual fan experience for all other television shows since August 2020. The ThunderDome is hosted at Orlando’s Amway Center, St. Louis. Petersburg, Florida’s Tropicana Field and Yuengling Center in Tampa.

A sale of the Allegiant Stadium will draw 70,000 fans north, going beyond the limited capacity in Tampa’s Raymond James Stadium for WrestleMania.
