The 23-year-old reveals his message to the former Arsenal striker before the new Premier League season
Zambian international Enock Mwepu presented his message to Danny Welbeck, Brighton & Hove Albion, ahead of the new season.
The 23-year-old midfielder, who was manager Graham Potter for the first time after moving from Red Bull Salzburg, explained what he said to the former Arsenal striker.
“I told Danny Welbeck, ‘You’ll be scoring a lot of goals this season. Just be ready for my help! “I will set it up for him,” said Mwepu. the Athletics.
Mwepu has further revealed how he intends to emulate former Malian striker Frederic Kanoute in the Premier League.
“He was a really good mentor to me,” Mwepu said of Kanoute. ‘He’s more than an agent; he is like a father, a teacher. He is always there to encourage me, to remind me what to do.
‘Having such a mentor is very important to me as a player. We talk mostly. He always watches me and asks how I am doing now that I am here and how I am going to settle down.
“Everyone is nice here, but he’s always been there for me to help me in my career.”
On his first day in preparation for the season, Mwepu promised to pursue his dreams.
“The first day at my new home,” Mwepu wrote on his Instagram page. “Living my dreams continues, can not wait until the start of the Premier League and continue to pursue your dreams.”
At the signing of the player, Potter said: “We are delighted that we were able to welcome Enock to the club and look forward to working with him.
“He has a lot of experience for someone his age, including Champions League and international football.
“He’s primarily a central midfielder, although he can play in numerous positions, but is open-minded, adaptable and very eager to learn and develop. He will add competition to our existing options in the field of the group heading to the new season. ”
Mwepu’s career began with Kafue Celtic in Lusaka before being identified with the 2013 Airtel Rising Stars. During the 2015–16 season, Mwepu enjoyed little playing time with Power Dynamos of Copperbelt, and it moved to Napsa Stars at the end of the 2016 season.
In June 2017, Mwepu joined Red Bull Salzburg and was loaned to Salzburg’s feeder club Liefering, which plays in the Austrian football first league.
Brighton will face Burnley in the season opener on 14 August.
