Sir Alex Ferguson was taken to hospital after feeling unwell ahead of Manchester United’s match against Liverpool. This precautionary measure comes as he is 84 years old and a regular attendee at games.
Ferguson, who led Manchester United to 38 trophies during his managerial career, previously suffered a brain haemorrhage in 2018, which was life-threatening.
He retired from managing the team in 2013 after an impressive 27-year tenure. As of midday, Ferguson was seen at Old Trafford before being transported to the hospital.
Key statistics from Ferguson’s career:
- 13 Premier League titles won with Manchester United
- 2 Champions League titles won with Manchester United
- 38 total trophies won during his career
Michael Carrick expressed concern for Ferguson’s health after the match, stating, “I hope he is all right. We hope him to be in good shape and we wish him all the best and hopefully the result gives him a good boost.”
Dr Aseem Malhotra shared his admiration for Ferguson, calling it “a privilege, honour and dream come true” to spend time with him before the game.
The club has not disclosed further details regarding the situation or any potential impact on upcoming matches.
