Kimi Antonelli won the Miami Grand Prix, marking his third consecutive victory and extending his championship lead to 20 points over George Russell.
Lando Norris finished second, 3.264 seconds behind Antonelli. Oscar Piastri secured third place, contributing to a double podium for McLaren.
Charles Leclerc received a 20-second penalty for leaving the track and gaining an advantage. Max Verstappen also faced a five-second penalty for crossing the white line at the pit exit.
The race featured a significant upgrade package for McLaren, enhancing their competitiveness. Antonelli executed a successful undercut during the pit stops, which played a crucial role in his victory.
A safety car period affected the race due to multiple incidents. The conditions were challenging, with a near constant threat of rain prompting a schedule change.
Antonelli’s winning time was 1:33:19.273. This win makes him the third driver to achieve three consecutive victories in Formula 1.
Lewis Hamilton was promoted to sixth place due to Leclerc’s penalty, while Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon finished ninth and tenth respectively.
Lando Norris expressed frustration, stating, “How did we not win this? We can make it easier for ourselves.” Meanwhile, Leclerc admitted disappointment in himself, saying, “That’s all on me. I am very disappointed in myself.”
Antonelli commented on his strategy: “The pace was strong. I was able to stay close… even though it was not easy.” The next Formula 1 race is the Canadian Grand Prix.
