As of early Tuesday, Hamilton stated, “I don’t feel comfortable in P6; it is not where I want to be, so naturally, I am not happy.” This reflects his difficulty adapting to the SF-26 during qualifying.
Hamilton criticized Ferrari’s simulator for sending him in the wrong direction regarding car setup. He indicated that he might cut out simulator running due to its negative impact on his performance.
Ferrari brought 11 upgrades to the Miami Grand Prix weekend. Despite these enhancements, Hamilton reduced his qualifying deficit to pole position to just five tenths of a second.
He acknowledged that there was some improvement from previous sessions, saying, “It was an improvement, and we made lots of changes to the car; we didn’t have software issues, so I think we progressed.” However, he remains unhappy with his sixth-place finish.
Looking ahead to the race, Hamilton expects rain. He believes wet conditions could provide an opportunity for better performance. “I’m confident with the balance that I have today in wet; hopefully we should be in a good place,” he stated.
