Aldi has announced a recall of The Fishmonger Hot Smoked 2 Salmon Fillets due to an incorrect use by date. The date printed on the packaging was June 25 instead of the correct April 25.
As of early Tuesday, customers have been advised to return the recalled product to Aldi for a full refund. This move comes amid growing food safety concerns across major supermarkets.
Within hours of the announcement, a public health alert was also issued regarding five products sold at Aldi in the US. These products potentially contain salmonella contamination, raising alarm among consumers.
The affected US products include frozen pizzas and pork rinds that contain dry milk powder. As of midday, no illnesses or reactions have been reported related to this specific US recall.
The Food Standards Agency has issued ‘do not eat’ warnings for multiple products across supermarkets, including Aldi. This includes nine porridge products recalled due to possible mouse contamination.
A spokesperson from Aldi stated, “As a precautionary measure, our supplier is recalling the fish because the incorrect use by date is printed on the pack.” They emphasized that even though contamination risks are low, consumer safety remains a priority.
Experts continue to stress the importance of food safety protocols in preventing such incidents. The recent recalls highlight ongoing scrutiny faced by retailers regarding their product labeling and safety measures.
In light of these developments, consumers are urged to remain vigilant about food safety and check their purchased items against recent recalls.
