A suspicious explosion occurred early Sunday morning at a house in Bristol, resulting in two adult fatalities. The incident took place around 6:30 AM on Sterncourt Road, Speedwell.

Three other individuals, including a child, suffered injuries and were transported to local hospitals. A major incident was declared by Avon and Somerset Police following the explosion.

Emergency services quickly responded to the scene. Within 15 to 20 minutes, police established a cordon around the property as a precaution.

Officials are treating the explosion as suspicious but have ruled out terrorism as a motive. Avon and Somerset Police stated, “Given the recent change to the UK threat level, we would like to reassure the public from the outset we are not treating this as a suspected terrorist incident.”

Residents living within the cordon were evacuated to a temporary rest centre at a nearby Harvester restaurant. Superintendent Matt Ebbs expressed gratitude for their cooperation during this major incident.

The police ask for public patience as they continue their investigation. They urge people not to speculate about the circumstances surrounding the explosion.
