David Sullivan, joint-chair of West Ham United, expressed optimism about a new era for the club following Karren Brady‘s departure and the appointment of Karim Virani as interim CEO.
Karren Brady recently left her role as vice-chair after overseeing significant changes, including the move to the London Stadium from Upton Park.
Karim Virani previously worked with West Ham from 2015 to 2020. Sullivan, along with Daniel Kretinsky and Vanessa Gold, issued a joint statement welcoming him back.
As of midday, Virani’s return has sparked hope among fans and officials alike. Sullivan stated, “On behalf of the Board of Directors and everyone at West Ham United, we would like to welcome Karim back to the Club and wish him every success in his new role.”
West Ham currently sits two points clear of the relegation zone in the Premier League. Nuno Espirito Santo, who has a win percentage of 33.33% as manager, faces pressure with only four matches remaining this season.
Observers believe that Brady’s exit could mark the beginning of an exciting new chapter for West Ham. Dave Walker commented, “Hopefully Brady leaving will be the start of an exciting new era for West Ham, a time when we can really see this club fulfil its true potential.”
The board aims to stabilize the club and improve performance on the pitch. The upcoming weeks will be crucial as they navigate through this transition.
