Brittany Ferries has announced there will be no fuel shortages or price hikes for 2026.
As of early Tuesday, the company reported a remarkable 37% increase in reservations for July and August.
CEO Christophe Mathieu stated, “Today we make a clear promise to customers. There will be no further rises in the weeks or months ahead.” This reassurance comes amid growing concerns about fuel prices.
Meanwhile, Balearia has started sea trials for its new dual-fuel fast ferry, the Mercedes Pinto.
Expected to be delivered in May, the Mercedes Pinto can carry up to 1,200 passengers and 425 vehicles.
This vessel aligns with Balearia’s strategy to reach net-zero emissions by 2050.
In a different context, families of victims from the Lamma IV ferry tragedy are seeking a judicial review of the coroner’s findings from the October 1, 2012 incident.
In that tragic event, thirty of the 124 occupants of Lamma IV were pronounced deceased at the scene.
The families claimed that there was irrationality in the findings regarding the collision with Sea Smooth.
Details remain unconfirmed regarding any further developments in this case.
As these events unfold, observers are keenly watching both the ferry industry’s response to fuel challenges and the ongoing judicial proceedings related to past tragedies.
