Qatar Airways flight QR22 to Doha departed late at 09:43, a delay of one hour and 28 minutes. Wizz Air’s flight to Liverpool also faced a delay, departing at 09:04 instead of the scheduled 08:15.
Ryanair’s flight FR3206 to Rome Ciampino was delayed by 42 minutes, taking off at 08:57. Jet2’s flight LS801 to Venice also saw a similar delay, leaving at 08:42.
More concerning is Ryanair flight FR1249 to Tenerife, which is now estimated to depart at 16:25—two hours and five minutes late.
Aer Lingus expects to cancel around 500 flights due to mandatory maintenance on aircraft. An Aer Lingus spokesperson stated, “A number of recent cancellations have been required due to mandatory maintenance on aircraft.”
This situation arises amid broader disruptions in global air travel caused by the Iran conflict. The war has forced the closure of major Middle Eastern hubs, affecting numerous routes worldwide.
Michael O’Leary warned that airlines might need to cancel up to ten percent of flights through the summer months. He mentioned, “We’re all facing an unknown scenario.” Details remain unconfirmed regarding the extent of future cancellations.
