Manchester United’s Midfield Pursuits
Manchester United has made an enquiry regarding Real Madrid and France midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni. Reports indicate that Real Madrid is open to selling the 26-year-old defensive midfielder to Manchester United. This comes as Michael Carrick’s side aims to strengthen its midfield ahead of the upcoming Premier League season.
The club has already secured the signings of Andrey Santos from Chelsea and Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa. Tchouameni is reportedly on a three-week break. His current contract at the Bernabeu is set to run until 2028.
Manchester United had previously shortlisted Tchouameni as a potential target, aligning with their preferred age range for new signings. His current contract at the Bernabeu is set to run until 2028.
Additional Midfield Targets and Other Transfer News
Beyond Tchouameni, Manchester United is also considering other midfield options. These include AS Roma and France midfielder Manu Kone, 25, and Brighton’s 22-year-old Cameroon international Carlos Baleba. Bournemouth’s 27-year-old United States midfielder Tyler Adams, valued at about £35m, is also an option for Carrick’s team.
In other transfer developments, Chelsea is reportedly accelerating its pursuit of Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott. Scott, 22, is said to be keen on a move to Chelsea, despite Bournemouth having rejected a £64 million bid. Arsenal and Manchester City have also been linked with interest in Scott, though they have not yet made a formal approach. Reports suggest Manchester United and Arsenal are in a strong position to sign Scott in a deal that could be around £40million.
Manchester United has also made an enquiry for Crystal Palace winger Ismaila Sarr. The Senegal international is admired at Old Trafford as the club continues to assess options to strengthen its wide attacking positions. While not considered a priority target, Sarr remains on the club’s shortlist.
Meanwhile, Manchester City has completed the signing of Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest for a fee of £116 million. Anderson has signed a five-year deal until 2031 at the Etihad Stadium.
Defensive and Attacking Movements
In the defensive sector, Arsenal is targeting former Manchester City defender John Stones, 32, and Aston Villa’s 28-year-old Ezri Konsa. This interest follows an injury to France defender William Saliba, 25. Chelsea is reportedly the favourite to sign Bosnia-Herzegovina attacking midfielder Kerim Alajbegovic, 18, from Bayer Leverkusen.
Xabi Alonso’s side is also in talks with Crystal Palace to sell French centre-back Axel Disasi, 28. Additionally, Chelsea has agreed a deal to sign 15-year-old American winger Benji Flowers from Major League Soccer side FC Dallas, with the move to be completed when he turns 18.
Arsenal and Manchester City are among the clubs vying to sign Ivory Coast winger Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig. RB Leipzig previously rejected a £69m bid from Liverpool for the 19-year-old. Liverpool and England Under-20 defender Amara Nallo, 19, is set to join Finnish club HJK Helsinki on a season-long loan.
Celtic and Japan striker Daizen Maeda, 28, is scheduled for a medical on Friday to finalise his £10m move to Ipswich Town. Leeds United’s English winger Jack Harrison, 29, is nearing a move to MLS side New England Revolution.
Everton is reportedly interested in Celtic’s Alistair Johnston, 27, who impressed for Canada at the World Cup. Aston Villa is also interested in signing 25-year-old Everton and England midfielder James Garner this summer. Manchester City boss Enzo Maresca remains keen on signing Argentina midfielder Enzo Fernandez, 25, and France full-back Malo Gusto, 23, from former club Chelsea.
Manchester United is also in a transfer race with Chelsea for Fenerbahce’s Archie Brown. Reports from Turkey suggest both clubs are following the 24-year-old English left-back, with Fenerbahce reportedly setting an asking price of €20 million (£17m) and seeking a sell-on clause. Fenerbahce manager Ismail Kartal is reportedly keen to retain the player.
Liverpool is closing in on the signings of academy star Isaac Konde and Manchester City duo David Eze and Karim Cassim. Manchester United is negotiating compensation fees with City and Liverpool for these young players, with the plan for all three to initially join the club’s Under-18s squad.
Should certain conditions be met, Villa would be required to sign him for £42.5m.
