A bomb hoax led to the evacuation of a Peter Kay show at the Utilita Arena in Birmingham on Monday night. The incident occurred about 45 minutes into the performance.
The venue was evacuated after reports of a suspicious bag left in the area. Audience members were asked to leave quickly without being informed of the situation.
West Midlands Police advised the evacuation as a precaution. Following thorough searches, officials reported that nothing suspicious was found.
A 19-year-old man has been charged in connection with the bomb hoax. His identity has not yet been disclosed.
Many audience members expressed confusion during the evacuation. Steve Aspinall said, “To be honest, I thought it was part of the show at first.”
Miranda Richardson described how quickly the situation escalated: “One minute [Kay’s] on stage and the gig is great, then two of the event team walk on stage straight to him, quick word and he’s ushered off.”
