Major UK airlines have confirmed they will not impose additional fuel surcharges on holiday packages. This decision comes as concerns over jet fuel shortages rise.
Early Tuesday, TUI announced that it would not add fuel surcharges to its holiday prices. Jet2 also removed any surcharge provisions across all flights and holidays.
As of midday, easyJet stated it would not introduce surcharges on its flights or package holidays. This move aims to provide customers with confidence when booking travel.
Neil Swanson, Managing Director at TUI UK&I, emphasized the importance of clarity for customers. He stated, “We understand that customers want both confidence and clarity when booking a holiday.”
Garry Wilson, CEO of easyJet holidays, acknowledged that travelers may have concerns about the impact of global events on their summer plans. Meanwhile, Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2, asserted that holidaymakers deserve to book their vacations without worrying about unexpected costs.
The UK government recently issued a statement regarding the ongoing jet fuel shortages. Approximately 75% of Europe’s jet fuel supply originates from the Middle East, raising alarms about potential flight cancellations.
Officials have not detailed how long these guarantees will last amid the evolving situation. However, the commitment from these airlines aims to reassure travelers during this uncertain time.
