As of early Tuesday, Phoebe is 21 years old and studying in New York. Amber is nearly 17. Vernon acknowledges that their relationship is evolving.
He stated, “Now that Phoebe is 21 and Amber is nearly 17, our relationship with them is changing.” The family dynamics are shifting as they encourage their daughters to embrace independence.
Yet, Vernon admits they struggle with this transition. He said, “We talk about encouraging them to leave the nest and be independent, but we don’t really want them to.” This sentiment resonates with many parents facing similar situations.
Concerns about modern parenting issues have also surfaced. Vernon highlighted drink spiking as a significant worry. He noted that such dangers did not exist when he was young—”When Phoebe started going out, we became acutely aware of drink spiking. I think that just didn’t happen in the Nineties.”
Meanwhile, Vernon has been dealing with a bad back while managing household chores. He joked about his responsibilities at home and his wife’s reminders regarding the lawn.
Tess Daly recently visited Phoebe in New York. She shared her experiences on Instagram, expressing her love for the city: “I love NYC. Maximised every minute on a whirlwind half-term trip and fell in love with this magical city all over again.”
Despite his physical struggles, Vernon has been preparing the garden for summer. He continues to juggle family life while navigating the complexities of raising independent daughters.
